Joshua M. Eckert

 

Joshua Eckert is an Architectural Designer and graduate from Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism’s Masters of Architecture degree, where he researched equitable community driven design methodologies for social housing in Canada. In 2023 Joshua was awarded the RAIC Medal for his outstanding academic excellence and research at Carleton University. Joshua is now an Intern Architect, seeking his licensure through the OAA.

Joshua was recognised as part of the core team who constructed the gathering pavilion in the 2019 Ottawa Urban Design Awards where the project won an award in three categories. He has also been recognized as a key contributor on the Public Foods project and the Architecture Action Lab at Carleton University, which uses design to create impactful social projects in Ottawa through student lead design. He is still an active member of the Architecture Action Lab, created by Dr. Menna Agha, and was the Design and Construction Coordinator for Public Foods and the Heights Hub Project which are both focused on using architecture as an instrument towards social justice.

Joshua Eckert is the Sole Proprietor of JME Design Build, which he had started after his Graduation from the Bachelor of Architecture Studies – Design program at Carleton University in 2017. JME Design Build has designed and built over 200 projects in and around Ottawa has a vast portfolio of design, renovations, furniture creation, cabinetry, carpentry, project management, handyman services, and shop drawings.
